The first Bailout attempt proves to be an Epic Fail, apparently due to a flubbed double-cross by the House GOP, though of course they initially blamed it on the mean woman who hurt their feelings. The American people seem to have conflicted feelings on the entire mess, which actually makes sense given the conflicting messages spewing from Washington (to say nothing of the McCain campaign). From the Democratic side, it’s always a weird day when Dennis Kucinich starts making senseto me, but he made some excellent points on Rachel Maddow earlier tonight. Nevertheless, Obama and some others are working on progressive alternatives to carpet-bombing Wall Street with gobs of taxpayer cash. Obviously, it’s way too early for Obama to start picking out drapes for the White House, but he does need to start thinking about just how big of a catastrophe he wants to inherit come January 20, 2009.
