Senate Republicans kill tax break for small businesses who make new hires.
Reality Bites
Ronald Reagan raised taxes. Several times. This fact makes Eric Cantor’s press flunky explode. Pretty funny stuff.
Millionaires for Socialism?
According to that well-known liberal-communist rag the Wall Street Journal, some 68% of millionaires support higher taxes on millionaires. I demand an immediate Congressional inquiry into why these America-hating job-creators are embracing the Obammunist Manifesto! They should be forced into re-education camps and made to read Ayn Rand and Newt Gingrich!
Rich People Create Jobs (and unicorns are real!)
Concise article taking down some of the most pungent Right Wing talking points about the economy. Well worth the read.
You Say You Want A Revolution?
Have you been following all the breathless, wall-to-wall coverage of angry constituents confronting GOP lawmakers over their pro-corporate billionaire policies?
Wait, what do you mean there’s no coverage? Isn’t this JUST like the Tea Party “revolution” that was “sweeping the nation” back in 2009? Huh, weird. Why, you might even think the MSM is nothing but a mindless collection of corporate stooges who exist only to placate the masses and preserve the status quo. But that’s CRAZY talk!
Reaganomics is Dead
Alan Greenspan, of all people, hammers the final nail into the coffin of the Laffer Curve. Not to be outdone, David Stockman (former Official Boy Genius of Reaganomics) denounces the GOP as economic hypocrites who killed the True Conservative Faith. Having said that, though, I’m not entirely convinced this year is the right year to allow any tax breaks to expire, even those which overwhelmingly favor the wealthy. As fragile as the economy is, we might well be better off punting them down the road for a year and see if things have turned around a bit more by then.
