Bring It

Good article from Salon about Judge Sonia Sotomayor, a potential Supreme Court pick, and why the inevitable fight may be exactly what Obama is looking for.

UPDATE:  This should’ve occurred to me, too.

  1. And so the fight has already been joined. Jeff Rosen of The New Republic, and an attorney to boot, has already put out an article consisting entirely of anonymous quotes and full of snark and innuendo. At the end of it, he even admits that he isn’t familiar with Judge Sotomayor’s cases and opinions, but he’s still pretty sure she’s not up up to the job. It’s rapidly metastasizing into the “conventional wisdom,” but since it seems like you read Greenwald on a regular basis, you know all this already. Andrew Sullivan’s blog at the website of The Atlantic is staring to pick up on it, as well. Sullivan’s also been doing yeoman’s work on the torture issue, btw.

  2. Sorry, I should have said that Ta-Nehisi Coates at The Atlantic is covering it, not Andrew Sullivan, although I highly recommend Sullivan as a smart, principled, “small c” conservative.
