So Much for “Free” Ways…

Obama Administration sells out, will allow tolls to be collected for driving on interstate highways that have ALREADY been paid for by tax dollars.

The Ghost of John Yoo

Echoing some of the most repulsive excesses of the George W. Bush years, the Obama Justice Department has excreted a legal justification for blowing up American citizens with drones WITHOUT all that pesky due process getting in the way.  Can you trust anyone with the unfettered authority to legally kill you based on a mere hunch that you are a bad guy?  Liberals, if this kind of executive overreach was disgusting when Bush was peddling it, what’s it like now?

Meet the New Boss?

President Obama will be in Cushing, Occupied Indian Territory today to announce he is fast-tracking approval of the southern leg of the Keystone XL Pipeline.  The proposed route will pass through several Indian burial sites.  Indians will be there to pr0test.  Local authorities have announced that the protesters WILL BE CONFINED TO A CAGE IN A PARK.  If it turns out the White House had ANYTHING to do with this, it will be yet another uncomfortable reminder of Obama’s tendency to adopt some of the worst excesses of the Dubya Years.

Meet the New Boss…

Now, evidently, the US government has the power to summarily execute natural-born US citizens.  Does that, ya know, bother anyone?  Even a little?

Meet the New Boss?

Defense Department Counsel Jeh Johnson suggests that the president can continue to “detain” (i.e., imprison) detainees EVEN AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ACQUITTED by a court of law.  Being cautious is one thing, but why in the hell is Obama allowing these John Yoo clones to spew this kind of garbage?  And before a Congressional committee no less!  Who is he trying to appeal to?

Meet the New Boss?

Glenn Greenwald calls out President Obama for essentially spritzing a little perfume on Bush’s policy of locking people up forever with no charges purely on the president’s say-so.  Or, as the White House prefers to call it now, “preventive detention.”  Surely we can expect better from a former Constitutional Law professor!

Meet the New Boss…?

The Obama Administration cravenly seeks to overturn Michigan v. Jackson, which held that once the right to counsel is invoked, the police can no longer browbeat the accused into “voluntarily” waiving his rights and undergoing further interrogation.
