Everyone Hates Ted Cruz, Part Two

Including his fellow Republican Senators.

And in other related news, this guy Cong. Todd Rokita (R-IN), is a total douchebag.

And this guy, Cong. Marlin Stutzman (R-IN). What is it with Indiana and douchebags?

“We’re not going to be disrespected,” he told the Washington Examiner’s David Drucker. “We have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.”

Wow, Who Could’ve Possibly Foreseen?

Evidently, behaving like a bunch of self-absorbed assholes is not all that popular.  To say nothing of being utter hypocrites.

Good On Wyoming

Wyoming Republicans vote DOWN abortion restrictions that would have required doctors to lie to their patients.

Virginia GOP Now Just Phoning It In

Old Dominion Republicans make it crystal clear that the only real purpose of “Voter ID” Laws is to make it harder for Democrats to vote.  Appreciate them abandoning the asinine pretext.

The Future of Math

If the Republic Party insists on continuing as the party of angry old white men, they are doomed.  And don’t blame the rednecks; privileged white kids at Ole Miss of all places shouted racist insults and burned Obama signs last night.  There is at least anecdotal evidence of other well-educated people giving themselves over to a sort of mass hysteria that simply would not exist if Obama was white guy Barry O’Toole from Schenectady.  I’ll talk about this at length more later, and let me emphasize that this is not an indictment of all Republicans as knuckle-dragging racists, but based upon the reactions I’ve seen so far I see little to no evidence that the GOP is in the mood for any sort of reflective soul-searching.

Attention Republican Women!

Mitt Romney kowtows to Bryan Fischer.  Bryan Fischer thinks you should not be allowed to hold political office.  The Tea Party in Mississippi thinks you shouldn’t even be allowed to vote.  Any questions?

Gone To Texas

Good article on the state of partisan play in Texas. I agree with the notion of Tarrant County as a key bellwether of any purple trend statewide, a county where Democrats were making inroads until the 2010 debacle. Wendy Davis’ campaign for reelection to the state senate will be a strong indicator of whether 2010 was a fluke or a reassertion of Right Wing dominance. Another major problem, referenced in the article, is the degraded state of the Texas Democratic Party, an organization that has never really been that strong and is now practically nonexistent. Hopefully, the TDP has abandoned their fantasy of wooing back white “Reagan Democrats” (so named because they haven’t voted for a Democrat since Reagan) and will instead devote their meager resources to registering and turning out Hispanic voters. Until that happens, Texas Democrats will remain a third party (after the Tea Party and the mainstream country club establishment Republicans).

Meanwhile, in the John Galt Suite…

our Randian Overlords look down with pleasure upon their Republic Party.  Ya know, for a party that’s supposed to be all about personal sovereignty and “rugged individualism,” they sure are quick to lick the boots of their masters.  Seriously, it’s embarrassing.  Have a shred of self-respect, GOP!

Pantaloons In Combustion

So, why do Republicans like Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney lie?  Because they get away with it, they pay no price.  For the most part, the media either ignores their lies or credulously repeats them without challenge.  It’s become so commonplace for the supine Mainstream Media to tolerate Republican lies, it’s an amazing story when someone in the media actually calls them out.  Since lies aren’t even called lies in the main body of stories about the lies, the MSM creates entirely separate fact-checking operations to research the lies…which the Romney campaign then promptly ignores.  Republicans have been allowed to create an alternate reality, utterly un-moored to the real world, and they never pay a price for it.
