Good on You, Jim Sensenbrenner!!

Yes, not something I expected to say either, but Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) deserves an “atta boy” for A) not only defending a Muslim-America; B) not only standing up to Michelle Bachmann (R-Arkham Asylum) but most importantly C) calling down a constituent for pushing bigotry and paranoia.  Lucky for Bachmann, though, bloated Tiffany’s-loving joke Newt Gingrich has got her back.  Ooooh, and I bet John McCain (who also called out Bachmann) is really shaking in his boots to hear that perennial asshole Louie Gohmert is pissed at him!

Faux Populism

A recent, dubious Rasmussen poll showing a hypothetical Tea Party out-polling the GOP has Right Wing elites in an uproar.  Of course, neither the Tea Partiers, nor the Republicans, nor really even the Democrats are truly populist in any historical sense of the word.  They may serve different elites, and in the case of the Tea Partiers may not even realize they are serving elites, but serve they do.

In 1974, following a Democratic congressional landslide and Richard Nixon’s forced abdication, there was quite a bit of talk about the extinction of the Republican Party, some of it coming from Republicans themselves.  Just six years later, Ronald Reagan triumphed, becoming the first candidate to defeat an incumbent president since 1932 and ushering in a major realignment of American politics.  When Democrats were turned out of Congress in 1994, and especially after George W. Bush’s re-election in 2004, many pundits heralded the coming of a permanent Republican electoral majority.  Now, the GOP lies in tatters–hemorrhaging supporters, disorganized, demoralized and bankrupt fiscally, morally and politically.  (more…)

Keep Up the Good Work, Boys

The Right-Wing Howler Monkey Media Chorus ramps up it’s repulsive attacks on Judge Sotomayor, thereby guaranteeing the continued irrelevance of the GOP.
